ABOUT ME

Introduction The boiler plate about me: My friends who got me hooked on NASCAR are Dale Jr fans and I am too but I have gone fully over to the dark side and have to admit that I find Kyle Busch irresistible (let me clarify that to say his personality and skills.) I still am a Dale Jr fan and cheer him on every week but Rowdy won me over as a fan during the driver introductions on Mother's Day when he was hamming it up for the crowd and because of how sweet he was with his mom. I've been married for over 22 years to an amazing man who indulges my passion for NASCAR. I am a Christian which means I fall short of every thing in every way and trust what Christ did for me on the cross to see me through. My screen name xfrmd is from Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (NASB) I don't always act like I'd like to and I hope you all will give me grace when I blow it. smiley I don't do cliques, I don't do fighting for the sake of fighting, I believe in right and wrong and if I believe strongly about some thing I'll make a stand for it. I enjoy a good debate as long as it's kept on topic and not reduced to name calling. I try to be the friend I want to have... That's it for now. smiley

My hobbies spending time with my husband and our three monster dogs, reading, blogging, chatting about NASCAR and whatever else catches my attention at the moment, web design (hobby/side business).

Welcome to Downtown Salisbury

While Blee8820 and I were out on a drive through the Concord area, we ended up in Salisbury. When we went downtown, we found what we thought was one of NorthCarolina's best kept secrets. Salisbury has one of the best old building collectins that I have ever seen. Comments about the town include:
* For over 250 years Downtown Salisbury has been recognized for its beauty and considered as one of the best places in N.C.
* Check out the 75 unique shops including 8 antique shops and two antique malls with over 140 dealers.
* 15 eating establishments where your dining options range from sitting in the open air on a pretty day to eat a hotdog or deli sandwich to dining indoors in a turn of the century restored church that now offers the finest northern Italian cuisine in the region or a former 1800's Residence that now houses a restaurant that serves a traditional American menu.
* See structures from the 1800's as well as interesting artifacts such as the Desk that President Andrew Jackson used when he studied law in Salisbury.
* See our history up close at the Rowan Museum in the 1854 Courthouse, the circa 1815 Utzman-Chambers House Museum or the 1820 Hall House.
* The City of Salisbury boasts 10 National Register Historic Districts with over 1,200 properties.

Hello my friend its Labor Day weekend and time for football and racing.

In 1999, Penske Motorsports Inc. merged with International Speedway
Corporation, bringing California Speedway into the ISC family of tracks.
Beginning in 2004, California Speedway's 2-mile oval became the host
of two Cup Series races each year, adding a Labor Day weekend
event to its roster of activities.

The track was renamed in February 2008.
It is now called the Auto Club Speedway.

2007 Race Results

Sprint Cup Series
Sharp AQUOS 500 : Jimmie Johnson-09/02/07

Auto Club 500 : Matt Kenseth-02/25/07
Cup Historical Race Winners

Nationwide Series
Camping World 300 presented by RVs.com:Jeff Burton-09/01/07
Stater Bros. 300 : Matt Kenseth-02/24/07

Craftsman Truck Series
San Bernardino County 200: Mike Skinner-02/23/07
Carl VS Kyle
In the wake of last weekend's bump-and-run and post-race altercation
at Bristol, is it going to get ugly between championship leaders
Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards? We have a new rivalry in nascar!!!

Have a great Labor Day weekend.

Good Morning Jackie,

Unfortunately this issue divides everything it touches, families, friends, countries, and is one that we are never all going to agree on. I read both your comment to me and the post on the board. Thank you for not being offended at the closed minded comment, as it was not met to offend, just my opinion. One of the comments in your public post is one of my problems (hangups) with the whole Pro Life movement, it was the comment about the church falling short of providing true options. I will not just blame the church here, for I am agnostic, and believe we all fall short at times. My firm belief is that if the choice is left in place with some restrictions (definitely the partial birth part, and parental notification under a certain age) and all of the money that is spent on both sides were used for education (true sex education) and options to abortion, I believe we would see the numbers drop drastically. As I said in the thread, I am pro-choice, but not an advocate. Thanks for your post in the thread and to me, it is nice to actually be able to have a discussion on here about some of these hot topics, it might be the only education some of these folks get. We are all closed minded about some things, makes us who we are. I think McCain made a great choice and will definitely cause me to do some thinking, not sure I am a convert, but at least something new in the making.

I hope you have a safe and enjoyable weekend as well.

Doug

1978 ... "Grease" by Frankie Valli

The #1 song in the U.S.A., on August 27, 1978 , according to Billboard magazine was "Grease" by Frankie Valli

Frankie Valli performing the song on Solid Gold

And, this is who most of us think of when we hear that song.....
